The last thing you want to do the first time you eat edibles is dive in head first. It doesn't matter how much you've smoked before; you're not going to be ready for how it hits you. That's why a Colorado marijuana shop is now offering a "rookie cookie" and a weaker pot-infused soda.
One time a friend of mine, who was far from a regular smoker, decided it would be a good idea to belly flop into the deep end of edibles. He didn't eat a half cookie, or even the quarter that would have been more appropriate for someone with his experience. Dude decided to go for it and eat the whole damn thing. I ran into him shortly after he'd consumed his doom and had to laugh. "You're in for a hell of a night," I told him. Sure enough, homeboy spent the rest of the night vomiting.
His story mirrors consumer complaints of getting sick after eating edibles, complaints marijuana marketers are trying to distance themselves from. Dude could have used a "rookie cookie."
