We have a Gambit, ladies and gentleman, and it is definitely Channing Tatum.
Fox has officially named Tatum as the star of a spinoff starring the X-Men fan-favorite character (who made a brief appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, courtesy of a different actor).
Deadline broke the news today when the studio announced that Josh Zetumer (Robocop) would be writing the script.
In case your last exposure to Gambit, aka Remy LeBeau, was that Fox Saturday morning animated series, here's a refresher: He's a former professional thief, he's a Cajun from New Orleans, he's acrobatic as hell, and he uses his power to charge playing cards with kinetic energy, which means he can throw them at shit and they blow up. You should be good now.
So, will Tatum make a good Gambit?
Well, they both love to do flips a lot.
1.
He obviously already knows how to throw cards at people's faces.

But will he be able to pull off Gambit's thick Creole accent? Hopefully he's better than his character in 22 Jump Street.

No word on when this movie might actually come out, since the script isn't even completed yet.
