Despite many rumors, Ben Savage (Cory) and Danielle Fishel (Topanga) never dated. They went on one date when they were 15 that solidified their sibling-like connection.

There was always supposed to be two male best friends for Cory, but no one ever clicked. For the first few episodes there was a different kid next to Cory and Shawn in the cafeteria, sitting in what they called the death chair, because the actors never came back.

Topanga was the name chosen for Fishel's character because creator Michael Jacobs was driving down a highway and passed the Topanga Canyon exit sign right when a member of the production team called asking for the name.

Blake Sennett, best known as the lead guitarist for Rilo Kiley, had a recurring small role as Joseph “Joey the Rat” Epstein. Fellow band member Jenny Lewis was also a child actor and had recurring roles on "Brooklyn Bridge" and "Shannon’s Deal."

Fishel wasn't initially cast as Topanga, but landed a role as a smaller character. When the first actor wasn't working out, it was down to her and Marla Sokoloff to re-audition for the role.

Stuart Minkus was supposed to be called Stuart Lempke, but according to DVD commentary, the writers changed it because they found out there was a real person with that name in Philadelphia, where the show was set.

During season 5, Strong nearly left the show to go to college, but Jacobs convinced him to do both and gave him the mornings for class. He spent some nights in the school required dorm and most in his downtown L.A. loft. Now that's the life.
