In an effort to protect the White House and restore faith in the Secret Service's competence, the building's front door will now lock automatically.
According to the Associated Press, Secret Service Director Julia Pierson made the revelation while testifying in front of the House Oversight and government Reform Committee today. In addition to taking full responsibility for the recent stream of security breaches at the White House, Pierson said that the White House's North Door has made the switch to automatic locks.
This comes a day after it was announced that Omar J. Gonzalez, the veteran who hopped a fence and sprinted into the White House with a knife, made it further than the public was led to believe.
