Spirit Airlines says it has a habit of making humorous ads based on recent events, but this joke was too soon (if it should have been made at all). The company sent out an email advertising its "Bare Fare" promotion with an animation of a nude but covered woman. Along with the image was the following message:
"Our bare fare was hacked! We fell naked; you were never supposed to see this Bare Fare! It was meant for a special someone (who isn't you). Now it's all over the Internet for you to take advantage of as you see fit."
Predictably, a lot of people were pissed about it, although a Spirit PR person dismissed them as "a small group." Still, the company got rid of the ad and replaced it with a joke about the Knee Defender that fought its way into headlines last week.
