You may remember people going nuts over that leaked Deadpool test footage of Ryan Reynolds that hit the Internet a few weeks back.
A lot of the reaction was people pissed that the film centered on the mouthy Marvel mercenary had been canned and was never going to happen.
Well, buck up fanboys. Production on the Deadpool movie is back in motion, and there's even an official release date from 20th Century Fox: Feb. 12, 2016.
The Hollywood Reporter says director Tim Miller is still attached to the project, and producer/writer Rhett Reese went on Twitter to celebrate:
Reynolds, who played a (weird) supporting role as Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine isn't confirmed yet, but come on, this guy loves the role. It's hard to imagine he won't get on board.
After the footage leaked Reynolds told a Sun Media reporter:
"The movie has been in a state of limbo for a while. There was such an overpowering reaction to the footage, you sort of feel like, ‘Oh, so we weren’t crazy for our reasons for loving this character, for loving this role.’ It’s interesting to see the power of the Internet. It’s awe-inspiring, actually ... And it’s neat that Twitter and Facebook and Instagram can move mountains when used in the right way.”
If anything, dude probably just wants to be in at least one good superhero movie in his career. Origins was kind of a mess, and his Green Lantern movie just plain bad.
