This latest trailer for Nightcrawler will probably make you remember why Jake Gyllenhaal was nominated for an Oscar.
Exploring a side of him that is pretty scary to watch, the actor stars in a movie where a man struggling to find any kind of job embraces the sleazy and often grotesque side of journalism. What it really does, though, is reveal Gyllenhaal’s Lou Bloom to be a borderline psychopath who becomes increasingly unhinged as the movie goes along.
Debuting at the Toronto Film Festival and hitting theaters nationwide on October 31, Nightcrawler looks like the kind of disturbing character piece that just might get Gyllenhaal back in the Oscar conversation. At the very least, the way his eyes are basically popping out of his head the entire movie, we’re never going to be able to look at him the same way ever again.
