The grandfather of survival-horror, Resident Evil 1, is getting remastered for both current and last generation consoles.

Capcom has confirmed this morning that the remastered version will be based on the GameCube remake which dropped in 2002. The Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, and PC will all see versions of the game released via digital download. And if you need any more information about the game that will make you feel incredibly old, the classic Capcom title was originally release in 1996 on the PlayStation 1. The game will be rendered in 1080p for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. While the PS3 and Xbox 360 will run the title at 720p.

Capcom has also revealed that the game can be played in its native 4:3 ratio or can be enjoyed in a 16:9 widescreen format. Resident Evil was almost singularly responsible for the birth of the survival-horror genre on the home console and the series is still chugging along with a sixth main franchise sequel having been released in 2012.
