Your favorite 6-second video app is adding a new feature for you to get excited about. Like most other social media apps, Vine gives your followers the option of liking your video. Now, however, you can keep track of how many times someone is actually watching that video. The app has dubbed the feature "Loop Counts".

Loop counts is a feature that allows the user to see how many times their 6-second video has been viewed, essentially giving them a pretty good idea of how popular their video actually is. The loop counts are taken from people watching the video on Vine as well as from embeds all over the Internet.

Vine quickly gained popularity as the first video app that allowed users to gain the same following as other social media apps such as Instagram and Facebook. Vine was created by Twitter and allows people to piece together 6-second loop mini-movies that play on repeat.

Vine API lead Mike Kaplinskiy says, “The number, which you can see in our mobile app and on vine.co, updates in real time, so as you watch a video, you’ll know you’re watching with others at the same time.” That’s a pretty awesome feature if you ask us.

This isn’t the only change Vine has undergone. In 2013 the app introduced a messaging service that allowed users to exchange private videos. The new feature is already available for iOS and Android software.
