When news broke yesterday that Tina Fey would be making a witch-centric movie, somewhere in the swirling vortex of internet rumors the story became that Fey was making Hocus Pocus 2. Sadly, that is not the case.
This movie (with the snappy title of Untitled Witch Project) will be “in the vein of Ghostbusters,” which means it still sounds pretty sweet even though it isn't exactly what we were expecting. Fey is attached to star, and will be producing alongside Allison Shearmur, who is currently working on the live-action Cinderella and also worked on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
Even though this movie won’t be Hocus Pocus 2, you can bet that Hollywood took notice of how excited everybody got yesterday. It would seem likely that, sooner or later, we’ll get this sequel that (apparently) everybody is craving.
