In another sign that Marvel is acknowledging that people other than white men can be superheroes, Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada announced last night on The Colbert Report that longtime buddy of Captain America Sam Wilson AKA The Falcon AKA Anthony Mackie from Captain America: The Winter Solider will be taking over the job from a rapidly-aging Steve Rogers.

This marks the second big announcement from the comic book giant this week, who earlier this week informed the world that the next Thor was going to be a woman. Hooray diversity!

Wilson will first don the suit and shield this October, when Rogers’ anti-aging serum wears off and he is forced to hand the reigns over to someone else. There are rumors that Iron Man is next in line for a makeover, so stay tuned.
