NYPD Arrest Man for Taking Up Space on Train That's Nearly Empty (Updated)

This will make you angry.

This infuriating video shows NYPD officers arresting a man aboard an F train that's nearly empty, all because he was apparently taking up two seats while sleeping.

Gothamist reports that the NYPD confirmed the May 30 arrest, saying the man violated the MTA's code of conduct by occupying more than one seat. He was also charged with resisting arrest, violating local law and obstructing governmental administration when he protested the arrest. The man can be seen repeatedly shouting that he simply fell asleep on his way home from work.

Gothamist notes that MTA rules say falling asleep on a train is not considered an offense as long as it isn't "hazardous" to anyone, and doesn't prevent the operation of the train.

So, basically, these cops were just bored.

UPDATE: The video has since been removed from YouTube.
