After about a year of keeping hush-hush about its newest app, Facebook is finally set to release Mentions, an app built specifically for monitoring Facebook interactions. The catch? It’s geared toward people sporting the oh-so cool blue check mark next to their names: Verified celebrities are the only people that will be using the app at the time of its release.

According to Re/Code, the point of the new app is that it lets you post new messages, photos and video, instead of reading what friends are posting. There is also a "mentions" tab that lets users see what people are saying about them.

More or less, the new Facebook app does exactly what Twitter does. Lets celebrity figures and public "influencers" see what the general public has to say about them. It may not always be nice, but at least they have the choice to see it.

Check it out on the App Store here.
