Please NBC, just pull the trigger on this one already.

The network is currently in "an active creative discussion" about how to use The Maya Rudolph Show, said Paul Telegdy, NBC's executive in charge of alternative programming, speaking at the TV Critics Association press tour in Los Angeles today.

Telegdy said that the show, which aired as a special on May 20, could return as a series of specials or possibly even a regular series.

The show that aired May 20 was a return to the classic variety show format, with a mix of celebrity guests, sketches and musical performances (Janelle Monae was the musical guest on that one).

Telegdy siad they're looking at the special that already aired as an "imperfect first episode," but didn't elaborate on what changes would need to be made to get this thing rolling.

All we know is that it needs to happen soon, because Maya Rudolph is the best (see below).
