For those who loved Jay Baruchel as the helpless but kind-hearted Steven Karp in the short-lived Judd Apatow series Undeclared, we’ve got great news for you: Jay is back on TV, and he’s basically playing an older version of the same character.

FXX has ordered 10 episodes of Man Seeking Woman, a comedy written by Saturday Night Live alumnus Simon Rich and based on his book The Last Girlfriend on Earth. It stars Baruchel as “a naive romantic on a desperate quest for love,” and also features Eric André, Britt Lower, and Maya Erskine.

It will line up alongside staples It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The League, and is the second comedy FXX has decided to pick up after also green-lighting Denis Leary’s Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll. FX president of original programming Nick Grad said of Man Seeking Woman that “Simon Rich has delivered a wholly original, hilarious and fantastical view of single life that features an incredible performance from Jay Baruchel.”

Let’s just hope this show is better than She's Out of My League and The Sorcerer's Apprentice.
