A food truck exploded in Philadelphia yesterday afternoon, injuring a dozen people, officials say.
NBC Philadelphia says a propane tank for La Parrillada Chapina food truck exploded around 5:30 p.m. in the city's Feltonville section. As a result of the blast, the metal tank was propelled some 50-feet, landing in a backyard, while flames traveled "200 feet into the air."
Twelve people were injured by the explosion, including a mother and daughter who suffered severe burns. NBC Philadelphia adds that 42-year-old Olga Galdemez and her 17-year-old daughter, Jaylin Landaverry, were inside of the truck when it burst into flames, leaving them with "major burns" across most of their bodies.
Witnesses recalled seeing someone "blown from the inside of the truck," and Shaquille Glover told NBC Philadelphia that he'll never forget the sound of screams which lasted for "a good two minutes" before police even arrived.
Authorities are investigating the possibility of foul play.
