With Gone Girl already a runaway hit as a book and highly anticipated as a movie, it only makes sense that with other source material available studios would return to the Gillian Flynn well to try to replicate that success.

Producers Marti Noxon and Jason Blum have snagged the rights to Sharp Objects (Flynn's first novel), and are now developing the book into a TV show. The plan is to turn it into a serialized one-hour drama series. It will follow the adventures of protagonist Camille Preaker, a mentally unstable reporter who comes back to her home town to investigate the death of two young girls.

Flynn will be an executive producer on the series, and should the new show do well, likely stands to make a ton of money. The lesson here, clearly, is that if someone tells you that you can’t make any money writing, you can just say “Gillian Flynn” and drop the mic.
