According to authorities, a helicopter descended upon a Quebec City jail and took three prisoners away last night.

Provincial police spokesperson Sgt. Audrey-Anne Bilodeau told NBC News that the men made the daring escape from the facility, which is located in Orsainville. The fugitives have been identified as Yves Danis, 35; Serge Pomerleau, 49; and Denis Lefebvre, 53.

Bilodeau added that there is a "massive manhunt" currently underway for the men, as well as the helicopter, which NBC News says is green, with red and white markings.

Though uncertain of their individual crimes, Bilodeau said the men were part of a drug-trafficking sweep that netted several arrests for an assortment of charges. They were being held at the detention center while awaiting trial.

NBC News adds that the military is lending its services in an air search for the helicopter.
