In one giant, collective show of disrespect to the tomatometer, audiences around the globe have helped Transformers: Age of Extinction rake in $300 million worldwide in its opening weekend, once again proving that bad reviews mean nothing when it comes to business.

The fourth movie in Michael Bay's fighting robots from space franchise scored the largest debut of 2014 so far, earning $100 million in North America and $201.3 million internationally, including $90 million just in China.

Age of Extinction replaces Shia LaBeouf with Mark Wahlberg in the lead role as a father who aids the good-guy Autobots. The movie earned more than the last installment, Dark of the Moon, which brought in $97 million in its opening weekend, but less than the opening for part two, Revenge of the Fallen ($108 million).

22 Jump Street dropped to No. 2 with $5.4 million this weekend, while How to Train Your Dragon 2 dropped to No. 3 with $3.1 million.
