It's rather simple: Overbearing parents who dominate their kids can push them to smoke weed, just as parents who leave kids to raise themselves do.
These are the findings of a study published by the journal Drug and Alcohol Dependence, which probed the lives of kids who reside in six countries across Europe. The study then placed their parents into four categories: authoritarian, authoritative, indulgent and neglectful.
Unsurprisingly, parents who leaned towards active, yet reasonable parenting—authoritative and indulgent—were more successful in convincing their kids to abstain from marijuana use than insufferable strict parents and those who just flat out don't give a fuck. Again, it all makes sense.
