Nathan Fillion Will Not Play a Big Role in "Guardians of the Galaxy"

Nathan Fillion WILL play a role in "Guardians of the Galaxy," but it likely isn't the one fans have been hoping for.

In Hollywood, there are numerous actor-director duos attached at the hip. While some are more mainstream (think: Christopher Nolan and Michael Caine or Tim Burton and Helena Bonham-Carter),  there are certainly plenty of lesser-known pairs who are seemingly always working together.

One such duo is Nathan Fillion (star of Firefly and Castle, among other things) and director James Gunn. Gunn’s next project is Guardians of the Galaxy, and there had been rampant speculation that Fillion would be landing a big role. Sadly for those rooting for Fillion to play fan-favorite Richard Rider (AKA Nova), it does not appear that is going to happen:

The rumors of my pal @NathanFillion playing Nova in #guardiansofthegalaxy have been greatly (and entirely) exaggerated. Sorry, humans.

However, at least we’ll be getting some Fillion. Per Gunn:

@STARS_TyranT: Are the rumours true that he has some part in the film?” @nathanfillion has a very small fun cameo he did as a favor to me.

To find out exactly what part Fillion is going to be playing, we’ll just have to wait until Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters August 1.
