A Florida woman faces federal charges for kidnapping her 2-year-old daughter last month because she didn't want the little girl to be vaccinated or taught about African-American history.
The Sun-Sentinel reports that 22-year-old Megan Elizabeth Everett of Sunrise, Fla. was last seen on May 6 after Robert Baumann, the man she shares custody of the little girl with, dropped their daughter, Lily, off at her home. A custody agreement mandated that Everett return the girl a week later, but that never happened.
Instead, Baumann received a letter from Everett explaining her disappearance:

Everett had been living with her mother, Pam, until she began a relationship with a man named Carlos Lesters. According to the Sun-Sentinel, Lesters was described in court documents as a "Confederate-flag-waving gun enthusiast."
Baumann maintained that he and Everett often fought about their daughters' education and vaccinations. "One of the issues we had was, she wanted to home-school my daughter," he told the Sun-Sentinel. "I didn't want that to happen. She didn't want Lilly to learn about black history. She just wanted her to learn about the Confederacy."
Furthermore, he believes that Everett wanted to prevent the girl from being vaccinated because it would "keep her out of day care."
A warrant for Everett's arrest was issued on May 19. She's been charged with kidnapping, concealing a minor contrary to a court order, and interference with custody. Lesters, who does not face any charges, reportedly told police that Everett and her daughter are gone and "[aren't] coming back."
