Original ideas are hard to come by in Hollywood these days. While we weren’t there, we can imagine this is roughly how the pitch for Wedding Ringer went:
“Remember that movie The Wedding Date?”
“You mean the one where Debra Messing hires a gigolo to be her +1?”
“Yeah, that’s it. Well what if we took that and mixed it with I Love You, Man?”
“And added Kevin Hart! He’ll be in anything!”
“And we’ll set an old lady on fire!”
“But, why?”
“Because, um…Kevin Hart!”
And thus do we have Wedding Ringer. The trailer is above, and the movie hits theaters in January.
