Idris Elba was announced as the star of True Detective director Cary Fukunaga's first film Beasts of No Nation back in August, and we've finally got the first image. The film is based on Uzodinma Iweala's 2005 novel about child soldiers in West Africa.

"“This project has been seven years in the making, so to say I’m excited to start shooting this — and with Idris Elba as lead — would be me trying to play it cool," Fukunaga told Deadline back in August.

Elba stars as a character called Commandant, who is the leader of the guerilla group that the main character, a young boy, is forced to join. Fukunaga wrote the script, and it's shooting on location in Ghana. There's no release date yet.
