Six people were reportedly killed after a fire tore through a single-family home in Newark, N.J. before destroying another, officials say.

According to the Associated Press, the Essex County Prosecutor's office said that the fire began at the three-story home around 4 a.m. this morning. The fire then jumped to a neighboring home, destroying it in the process. CBS New York reports that the man living in that home managed to escape.

While an investigation is still underway to determine the exact cause of the fire, officials do not suspect foul play at the moment.
