Is there anything more simultaneously thrilling and frustrating than superhero movie casting rumors? In the weeks and months after one of these movies gets announced, the Internet becomes a breeding ground for speculation—with some great ideas and plenty of head-scratchers along the way.

Well now Deadline is kicking off the Doctor Strange rumor mill with a report that Marvel is looking at Tom Hardy and Benedict Cumberbatch to play the Sorcerer Supreme himself. The site cautions that this is a wish list for the studio, and it in no way means that any conversations have taken place.

Both actors make complete sense because of their talent and profile. Plus, either one could easily fill the void when Marvel veterans like Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans eventually hang up the tights. And while either one would make a great Strange, at the very least Marvel should go after Cumberbatch to lend his threatening voice to the character's arch foe, Dormammu.
