Pentatonix, who were the champions of Season 3 of NBC’s The Sing-Off, have joined the cast of Pitch Perfect 2 as rivals to Anna Kendrick and the Barden Bellas. The group is perhaps the most famous real-life a cappella ensemble in the country, and it seems only natural that they will serve as foils to the reigning ICCA National Champion Bellas, who will be back en masse to defend their title.
The five Pentatonix members (Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Avi Kaplan, Kirstie Maldonado, and Kevin Olusola) have already shot their scenes, and dropped a few hints as to what their role will be. Hoying said that “We’re wearing some pretty interesting things. You can definitely tell it’s the five of us, but what we’re wearing and who we’re portraying is definitely not Pentatonix.”
Grassi proclaims that “You’re going to love it,” a bold statement but one that is probably true. After all, it’s Pitch Perfect 2. If it’s anything like the first one, we’re going to be all about it.
