The segment of 126th Street at Lennox Avenue in Harlem has been named after the legendary businesswoman Sylvia Woods.

Earlier this week,  family members and supporters gathered to watch as"Sylvia P. Woods Way" was officially unveiled. Woods opened the iconic Sylvia's Restaurant nearly 52 years ago with her husband, the late Herbert Woods. It has since become famous for its soul food, spawning products distributed across the nation and producing cookbooks backed with her recipes.

Woods passed away in July 2012 at the age of 86 due to complications with Alzheimer's. Her legacy will live on through this honor.
