Today, in a post on the official Playstation blogSony's marketing VP John Koller announced significant changes to the company's Playstation Plus service. Koller noted that because of the service's growing popularity, as well as the Playstation 4's undeniable success, the company is going to be expanding and tweaking the possibilities of their PSN subscription service.

Here are the major changes:

  • Starting in July subscribers will be given access to two Instant Game Collection free downloads per month on the PS3, PS4 and PS Vita.
  • These downloads have a set start and end date. Subscribers will be able to play the titles on the first Tuesday of every month until they expire on the first Tuesday of the following month.
  • Certain Instant Game Collection titles that are currently available will be phased out over next few weeks but they'll be replaced by newer titles, including Trine 2: Complete Story and Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate for the PS4, NBA 2K14 and Sly Cooper: Thieves of Time for the PS3, and then Terraria and Mutant Mudds Deluxe for the PS Vita. Sly Cooper will also be available for the PS Vita.

It's exciting news for Plus subscribers, primarily because they're being given two new titles per console instead of just one. For the time being, Koller has given no word on whether pricing will change for the service. Hopefully, this means that gamers will be getting more bang for their buck.
