A dispute over a parking spot resulted in a man being shot to death in Queens on Monday night, authorities say.

Gothamist reports that Darrell Lynch, 24, was shot just before 7:30 p.m. in Jamaica, Queens as he and his mother came back to their vehicle. His mother said they were involved in a dispute over the parking spot with earlier. He apparently waited, seething with anger, and opened fire when they returned.

According to the New York Daily News, Lynch had his own weapon, which his 55-year-old mother reportedly grabbed and returned fire, causing the gunman to flee. The wound ruptured Lynch's femoral artery, and he passed out due to blood loss and crashed the vehicle while attempting to drive away. He was later pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital.

The Daily News adds that the suspect was still at large as of yesterday.
