After Gerard Butler wisely decided he could never live up to the legacy left by Patrick Swayze (or at least, that’s what we assume), the producers of the Point Break reboot nobody wanted were left without a Bodhi. This is an important detail, given that the character of Bodhi is 50 percent of the movie.
You can now rest easy, for Bodhi has been found. The actor landing the role: Edgar Ramirez.
Who is Ramirez? He’s the fellow who played Ares in Wrath of the Titans and was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance in Carlos, a 2010 movie that came in at 5.5 hours long (seriously) and was shown both as a miniseries on TV and dramatically edited down on VOD.
In a joint statement, Alcon Entertainment CEOs Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove seemed pretty psyched about adding Ramirez:
“We consider Edgar one of the finest actors in the world today and we are thrilled he will be creating a fresh new take on the iconic character of Bodhi.”
Shooting for the movie starts in just two weeks, so we’re sure nothing could go wrong here. Hastily assembled movies with lots of last-minute major casting changes always turn out fine.
