Finally, some good news out of Florida.

A burglar had seemingly ruined a child's birthday until a kind-hearted Jacksonville cop went above and beyond the call of duty.

According to the Huffington Post, Jacksonville Sheriff's Officer Derek Pratico responded to a call about a vehicle that had been broken into on Mar. 27. The vehicle's owner was despondent because the thief had stolen her son's birthday gift, which she couldn't afford to replace.

Practico, a 10-year-veteran of the police force, returned to the home the following day bearing gifts: a toy police car and birthday cake for the boy, as well as a $100 gift card for the woman, all purchased with his own money. Practico remains modest about the act, telling First Coast News "That's just the way I was raised."

Stories like this will restore your faith in Florida.
