A New Hampshire home exploded into flames on live television yesterday evening after a police officer was fatally shot inside.

Police responding to a domestic disturbance approached the Brentwood, N.H. home and a witness reportedly heard "rapid gunfire."

Officer Stepehn Arkell, a15-year veteran of the police force, was fatally shot. According to State Attorney General Joseph Foster, another officer tried to enter the home, but was flushed out by a barrage of bullets.

During a live television broadcast, the house erupted in flames, eventually exploding.

Authorities believe 47-year-old Michael Norton, the gunman and homeowner's son, is dead. Emergency responders rushed Walter Nolan, 87, to the hospital.
