Get ready to meet The Flintstones again, because according to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is looking to bring the classic animated family back to the big screen. Thankfully the studio isn’t looking to return to the dreadful live-action series from the ‘90s; instead, Will Ferrell and Adam McKay will produce a new feature-length animated film under their Gary Sanchez Productions banner.
By going back to animation, this new Flintstones film will hopefully get back to the series’ roots, free from campy special effects and Rosie O'Donnell. There is no word on whether or not the film will be traditionally animated or composed through CGI, but it’s safe to assume that Warner Bros. will go for the latter in order to avoid making the movie look too prehistoric.
Chris Henchy (The Campaign) will write the script for the movie, but no details have been revealed about the story itself as of yet. However, with Ferrell and McKay involved, The Flintstones could at least receive the benefit of an A-list voice cast.
