A naked man holding a bouquet of red roses and a funeral urn dove into the Hudson River yesterday, authorities say.
The New York Post reports that the man stripped off his clothes, put two roses in his mouth, placed the urn on the grown, and jumped into the water in the Bronx's Roberto Clemente State Park around 10:22 a.m. Witnesses say the man was bent on taking his life. "He was throwing water in his face. He was trying to hold his face under," Christina Burtos told the Post.
Furthermore, other witnesses prevented another man from jumping into the water after him. The New York Daily News says the man left behind a note and a cell phone, and the Post notes that his body has yet to be recovered.
