A weekend shooting at a Myrtle Beach, S.C. left three people dead and another person wounded.

The Associated Press reports that the incident happened around 11 p.m. Saturday night in front of the Bermuda Sands Motel. Though Myrtle Beach Police Capt. David Knipes declined to disclose a possible motive to the Associated Press, a witness told the Sun News that a fight broke out prior to the shooting.

"At first, everyone was standing around to see who was going to win the fight," George Covington told the Sun News. "Then they started shooting and everyone scattered."

According to the Associated Press, the victims have been identified as 28-year-old Jamie Williams of Ladson, S.C., 22-year-old Sandy Gaddis Barnwell of Summerville, S.C., and 21-year-old Devonte Dantzler, also of Summerville. The surviving victim was hospitalized.

Knipes could not confirm whether the shooting was related to Atlantic Beach BikeFest, which takes place each Memorial Day weekend.

Police believe the suspect escaped from a rear hotel exit, and the investigation is ongoing.
