Beal College in Bangor, Maine finally gave Jessie White her undergraduate degree after 75 years now that an unpaid $5 transcript fee has been taken care of. Colleges really want every cent, don't they?

White, 99, was prevented from graduating in 1939 because she couldn't afford the $5. Upon learning this, one of White's friends reached out to Beal preident Allen Stehle, who covered the $5 himself. Furthermore, Stehle showed his kindness by organizing a long-overdue graduation ceremony for White, inviting her friends and family.

So, after over 70 years, Jessie White finally officially graduated from Beal College with a degree in stenography and bookkeeping on Friday. What a great start to the weekend.
