According to 9to5Mac, Apple may be gearing up to bring split-screen multitasking to the iPad with iOS 8.

Since the iPad's introduction, users have been left to switch from app to app one at a time if they wanted to cut and paste text or other information. The lack of being able to multitask with the iPad has been a big time criticism of the device, with competitors like Microsoft and Samsung using this to their advantage:

With the iOS 8 update, users would be able to display two different apps on the iPad's screen, and drag pictures, text, or video from one app to another without switching over, if the apps have been designed for it. iOS 8 is expected to be announced next month at Apple's WWDC conference.
