It took five years, but the glass house immortalized by John Hughes' Ferris Bueller's Day Off has finally sold for just over $1 million dollars.
According to Crain's Chicago Business, the the Highland Park, Ill. home sold for $1.06 million, less than half of the $2.3 million figure it was listed at back in 2009. The four-bedroom "steel and glass box" was built in 1953 by James Speyer, a student of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.
To this generation and the one before it, it's known as the place where Cameron "killed the car," as a stunned Ferris so eloquently told him in the 1986 classic.
Coldwell Banker Regional Director Craig Hogan wouldn't say who purchased the home, but whoever bought it now owns a true piece of pop culture history.
