Another day, another reboot. According to Deadline, producer Neal Moritz and StudioCanal are preparing to put a new version of 1993’s Cliffhanger into development. For those who don’t know, the original movie starred Sylvester Stallone as Gabe Walker, a former rescue ranger who is forced to stop terrorist activity high atop a dangerous mountain. It was directed by Renny Harlin, and by Stallone standards it was a masterpiece.

There is no word yet on who is being eyed to direct or star in this new one, but you can bet Stallone will be out. Deadline also points out that Sony already has a mountain climbing movie in development called Everest, starring Tom Hardy. Is the world big enough for two mountain movies? Thankfully Everest will be more of a drama, as opposed to a remake of a low-brow shoot ‘em up.
