SPOILER ALERT. DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER IF YOU DON’T WANT THE ENTIRE SERIES OF BREAKING BAD RUINED FOR YOU. CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED.

At the end of Breaking Bad, things weren’t too good for Walter White. How bad, exactly?

Well, he was dead.

And it’s not as if he was a picture of health at that point anyway; his cancer had come back, and he was only given a small amount of time to try to right his wrongs. While he was able to somewhat redeem himself before he died by giving all his money to his family, freeing Jesse, and killing all those neo-Nazis, when police descended on that lab he sure looked deader than dead.

But what if he wasn’t?

In an interview with CNN, Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston was asked if his character was dead. His simple reply? “I don’t know. You never saw bags zip up or anything, or anybody say...you know.”

Is this simply playful speculation on his part, or is there actually something to this? Could Walter White have survived, gotten out of prison somehow, and beaten cancer? Could there be more Breaking Bad for us down the line?

Cranston says, ”Never say never.” And we’re assuming he doesn’t mean Better Call Saul.

Hopefully, this is nothing but Cranston having some fun. Sometimes it’s best to just let even monsters like Walter rest in peace.
