In what is sure to raise a lot of controversy, particularly in Massachusetts, FOX has reportedly begun to develop an “Event Series” about last year’s Boston Marathon bombings.

The miniseries will be based on the book Long Mile Home, which was authored by Boston Globe writers Scott Helman and Jenna Russell and won a Pulitzer Prize this year. Neither author will be involved in any of the show’s writing, it seems; those duties have been given to Rod Lurie, who has a limited number of writing credits to his name. The producer will be Basil Iwanyk, whose best-known current work is on The Expendables franchise.

The idea of this show will likely cause significant outcry from the people of Boston. With a successful 2014 Boston Marathon having been completed less than two weeks ago, the last thing Bostonians want is their city’s darkest hour played out once again on television for everyone’s entertainment.

While the show is still in development and has a long way to go before it makes it to air, it’s worth watching to see what happens as word begins to spread about its subject matter.
