With former Ant-Man director Edgar Wright off the project for about a week now, Marvel needs to hustle to find a new director so they can keep to their promised release date of July 15, 2015.

It looks like they’re making some progress.

The studio has been in contact with several big names, including Rawson Marshall Thurber (We're the Millers, Dodgeball), Adam McKay (Anchorman), and Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) to take over for Wright. All three are known for their comedic prowess, and ability to mix that with action sequences as needed.

THR points out that McKay’s history with Ant-Man star Paul Rudd would seemingly give him an early edge, although McKay's schedule might make it difficult. Plus, his action sequence experience is pretty much limited to the two Anchorman all-news team battle royales.

However, given Marvel’s tight timetable, we can likely expect to have a final decision quite soon.
