Adam McKay is Definitely Not Directing "Ant-Man"

Adam McKay Ends Ant-Man Talks

Pacific Coast News

Speculation has been rampant on who will replace director Edgar Wright on Marvel's Ant-Man movie, and until today, it looked like Adam McKay was the front-runner. Apparently he had "last-minute change of heart" and pulled out, meaning Marvel is shit out of luck.

The Wrap reports that We're the Millers director Rawson Marshall Thurber and Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer are being considered and will meet with Marvel execs in the next few days. Star Paul Rudd reportedly really wanted McKay to direct after working with him on the Anchorman films.

Marvel has to find a director soon, because they're sticking to their July 2015 release date, so whoever gets the job will face a challenge.

Update: McKay addressed the situation on Twitter:

And yes, met w/Marvel. Kirby & Lee r my Lennon Mccartney so it was awesome. But have other projects I'm committed to. Not sure it can work.
