Ubisoft announced today that the sequel to upcoming open-world hacking game Watch Dogswill be released the same day as the game. But it's not another game, it takes the form of an eBook by acclaimed sci-fi writer John Shirley.

The eBook, Watch_Dogs //n/Dark Clouds is a direct sequel to the events in the game which follow hacker Aiden Pearce on a quest for justice in the virtual version of Chicago. According to Ubisoft the book will “allow fans to further explore the world of Watch Dogs with an all new story.” The sequel will feature ex-military man Mick Wolfe who gets caught up in the “hyper-connected and violent underground” of Chicago.

Sci-fi writer John Shirley, author of Everything is Broken and the A Song Called Youth trilogy has written the book with input from the development team and writers.

"It all plays out with action and energy against the inner city backdrop that I thrive in" Shirley said. "With hack tech in one hand and gun in the other, Aiden Pearce is a believable fusion of hacker and action hero who deliberately slips between the cracks of society to relentlessly pursue his agenda."

Talk about spoilers! Watch_Dogs //n/Dark Clouds drops on May 27 as an interactive eBook, the same day as the game, Watch Dogs, is released.
