It turns out a rumor that first appeared back in January is true. Microsoft confirmed today that it is working with Ridley Scott's production company, Scott Free, on a new “digital feature” set in the Halo universe set to drop before the end of 2014. The project also features Battlestar Galactica director Sergio Mimica-Gezzan. This latest project is a completely separate project to the Steven Spielberg produced Halo feature also underway for the Xbox.

The Wrap reports that the live-action series will take place in the 26th Century and will not include Master Chief as it's main star. It will follow a cybernetically-enhanced super-solider and is set to follow the format of Machinima's excellent Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn series. Expect more details at E3 in a few short months.
