Cat lovers from all over New York lined up this morning for the opening of Purina One's cat café. Though pet cafés are popular throughout Europe and Asia, this new pop-up is the first of its kind in New York City.

Apparently the café is a huge success so far, as can be seen from the pictures of long lines posted all over Twitter. According to Purina, the café has experts on hand to discuss cat care and cats will be available for adoption through the North Shore Animal League

While I totally get why a coffee shop where you can pet cute kitties is an appealing idea to many, unfortunately I'm going to have to skip this one. As someone with a serious cat allergy, this might as well be a bee café for all I care (they don't have those in Japan, too, do they?). Anyhow, people who can enjoy pet dander with their cappuccinos without getting hives will have until April 27 to do so. In the meantime, you can watch City Guide's Bodega Cats video to tide you over.
