Hollywood, you've done it yet again: Remaking a movie or throwing together a sequel that doens't need to be made. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Fox 2000 is developing a sequel to Mrs. Doubtfire, that Robin Williams movie everyone loved from 1993. Sure, it was great—but in 1993, when it happened the first time. Why do we need another?

The sequel project will reunite the director Chris Columbus and the star Robin Williams. David Berenbaum, who wrote Elf, will pen the script.

A idea of a pointless sequel has actually been in the works for some time: Bonnie Hunt was originally hired to write the screenplay, but the project fizzled out ages ago. Now that it's fizzled...back?...Matilda Mara Wilson, whose debut film role was in Mrs. Doubtfire as Williams' young daughter, is expressing how dumb she thinks the idea of a sequel is via Twitter:

For the record, no, I do not have anything to do with the Mrs. Doubtfire sequel, nor will I.
I've been in some mediocre movies, but I've never been in a sequel. And I have no interest in being in one now.
Sequels generally suck unless they were planned as part of a trilogy or series. I think Doubtfire ended where it needed to end.
There are many, many reasons I don't want to be in Mrs. Doubtfire 2. But they haven't even asked me (yet), so no need to worry.

Sooooo...she probably won't be involved, we're guessing.
