Meg Ryan is the new Bob Saget, according to Entertainment Weekly. The site is reporting that Ryan will provide the voice of the narrator for CBS’s upcoming How I Met Your Mother spin-off, titled How I Met Your Dad. Like the original show, the narrator will be an older version of the main character of Sally, played by Greta Gerwig.
Ryan will never actually appear on the show, but her voice will be a central component in the story. It’s still not quite clear why the folks at CBS think someone in their 30’s will sound completely different a decade or two later, but it’s a trademark of the series that will apparently continue.
