Mad Men is readying its final lap around the track, but last night's viewership didn't exactly reflect that. Deadline reports that the premiere for the seventh and final season of the show drew in 2.3 million viewers, which is the lowest season premiere rating for the show since 2008's season two (The Wrap reports that, alternatively, The Good Wife on CBS scored some of its best ratings, and CBS won the ratings for the night). The second season of the show was watched by 2.06 million.

Last season's premiere was watched by 3.4 million and earned the distinction of  being the second most-watched episode in the history of the series. The decrease in viewership shows a 32% drop.

The most watched episode in Mad Men history is the season five premiere, which was watched by 3.5 million.
